Smart Phones take over Asia

By 2015, researchers have predicted that over half of Asian handset sales will be smart phones. An estimated 477 million units are to be sold according to studies and industry reports. To be exact researchers from Frost and Sullivan said that smart phones will total at about 54% of the Asia-Pacific Market in the upcoming five years. 'Smart phones are critical to every operator's mobile broadband business case, as a smart phone user's ARPU, or average revenue per user, typically increased by 25 to 100 percent after adoption depending on the market,' said Marc Einstein, industry manager of Frost and Sullivan. 'The Asia-Pacific market is particularly interesting for smart phones as there has been significant uptake in emerging markets like China, India and Indonesia, even among prepaid users.' With the popularity mobile phones such as the iPhone, BlackBerry, and various Android Phones their has been a spark of interest in smart phones. The rise of social networks have also taken part in this. Despite the interest and increase of smart phones and their capabilities there are still about 80% of Asian customers that use prepaid cards, and prepaid cards can not be used for any smart phone. The lack of Wi-Fi in public areas will also back track the sales. The interest in smart phones is still there despite the obvious facts, and researchers still believe that they will soon take over Asia.
