If you haven’t heard about Nokia’s new mobile platform Maemo 5, then you may a bit out of the loop. With Nokia’s first release of Maemo 5 on its way to customers worldwide, a lot of questions are being raised as to what will happen with Nokia’s relationship with Symbian. Currently in Nokia supports both Maemo 5 and S60 5th Edition, but will one be phased out? Leave it to the members of Maemo’s marketing team to tell us all about it. The Really Mobile Project reports that Nokia will be purging S60 from any N-Series handsets for the fresher and much cleaner Maemo platform. This decision was made due to the overall welcoming reception of the N900 as well as the new OS. While the N900 is not currently in stores, the device have already begun to ship says CEO, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo. Of course the transition from a matured and well-established Symbian to Maemo won’t be easy, or quick. A full switch is expected to be made by the end of 2012. Though, Nokia could really confuse us by throwing WebOS on some of its devices.Read.
