National Cell Phone Recycling Week

Top cell phone news today, April 5 marks the beginning of the National Cell Phone Recycling Week, that all national carriers and manufacturers are supporting. Now the best way to recycle your phone is when purchasing a new phone you can use the prepaid envelope to mail your old one back. Now that is all well and good if you have just purchased a brand new phone, but lets say during a recent stint of spring cleaning you locate your old Nokia 3595. Now you can just throw it away but you know better than that because you understand that every little bit helps. You could drive it to an authorized Retailer of your carrier, maybe even walk to the retailer, help the environment double. Now you ask me, 'Tom, why should I recycle my old phone?' This is why my eager reader. Many of the materials required to make cell phones are rare and precious elements that are normally found in so-called third world nations where the increasing demand is causing land disputes, crooked political deals and even all out skirmishes that leads to the deaths of innocents. Yes so next time your just going to throw away an old cell phone, or any electronic device remember the littlest actions some times cause the biggest ripples.
