
LG Electronics incorporated and Microsoft Corporation signed a preliminary collaborative agreement today. As per an LG statement, this agreement will have focus on R&D, marketing, applications, and services in the field of mobile devices. The agreement was signed by Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s CEO during a trip to South Korea, the home of LG Electronics. Microsoft is optimistic that its Mobile operating system will continue to challenge the Symbian Platform which runs on two thirds of all Smartphones. It has been speculated that due to the aggressive competition in the Smartphone segment of mobile technology, the South Korean maker is looking to diversify their alliances.
