Highly anticipated - Steve Jobs is the Keynote Speaker of WWDC 2010, of course, and he is announcing some very exciting stuff. So far they've spoken about the popularity of the iPad, e-books, and the usefulness of the development world and Apple when teamed up - this equals about 15,000 applications admitted to Apple every week. It also looks like apple is onboard with Zynga - makers of Farmville, Netflix - the largest streaming movie rental program on the block, and Activision - talking about the new version of Guitar Hero which is programmed to specifically work on the iPhone. Some exciting announcements. Jobs is now speaking about the new iPhone 4 being released. It is a completely new design, 24% thinner than the iPhone 3GS, making it the thinnest smartphone on the planet. The Design integrates a built-in extended antenna for 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS connections, and the Apple iPhone 4 also features improved battery life, with up to 300 hours of standby. The iPhone 4 will also have an added feature - a gyroscope, meaning it has a 6-axis detection system of angular velocity, when combined with the compass and accelerometer, making it perfect for gaming. A whole new camera system will be integrated in the new device. The camera will now be a 5-megapixel camera with a backside illuminated sensor, with 5x digital zoom, tap to focus, and an LED flash. The camera also records HD video. It is capable of recording 720p video at 30fps. Also announced: iMovie for iPhone. You're able to cut, edit, record, and add video together to make movies on your new iPhone 4. It includes transitions, titles, and even the automatic recording of geolocations to integrate them into certain themes that users may choose. How much will it cost? $4.99. iPhone OS 4 is now being renamed to iOS 4. Multitasking is now implemented, hooray - and supposedly Apple did it 'correctly' as to not kill battery life. iOS 4 will also feature optional folders on the homescreen - and 'other features' which Jobs doesn't have time to go through. Data protection, device management, multiple exchange accounts - as well as added Google, Yahoo, and Bing search engines. The new iPhone 4 will also be adding iBooks. A digital bookshelf - the same as your iPad, and you will be able to download the same book that you've already purchased on one device to all of your other devices. The PDF viewer is extremely full-featured as well. Finally, VIDEO CHAT - 'facetime'! Jobs made a video chat option directly on the in-call menu of the call screen. He made a phonecall during the keynote speech, pressed the facetime button, and, bam, he was talking face to face with his buddy. This is the feature that I've been waiting for, and Job's has announced it. Unfortunately, we won't see this being used outside of a Wi-Fi connection until at least 2011. The 16GB will be $199 with a 2-year AT&T contract, and $299 for the 32GB model. All of these features pretty much sum up what the Apple iPhone 4 will be. Looks like an exciting device, we personally can't wait to get our hands on it. Thank you, Steve Jobs, for enlightening us on what is to come.
