Review

Pros :- There is a Faves feature to replace MyFaves. This new system is basically a carousel of your favorite friends and brings in social media – Twitter and Facebook, mostly – updates as well as contact information. Battery life is strong. It also has a unique and useful voice control function very similar to the iOS voice command system.

Cons :- It lacks important features like a standard 3.5-millimeter headset jack, a file manager, and camera-editing options. Video quality is uneven, and the HTML browser interface and virtual keyboard have their flaws. Also, it doesn’t support Outlook calendar and contacts syncing.

You may have notice how T-mobile has been on a Android streak lately and how now they are keeping the theme going with the myTouch line. Well next in line is the myTouch Slide. It’s not exactly like the others of it’s family. It gets a new hard-shell that’s a little bit larger than the original myTouch 3G. On opinion, we certainly can argue that this phone may not be as nice as the older model, but we don’t think that will stop you from checking out this pretty awesome phone. It is really a cool phone, especially since it’s got a pretty sweet custom foam interior with cut-out spaces for everything the Slide includes: 3.5mm headphones, a micro-USB cable, and the same custom myTouch charger that the older model included. It doesn’t look out of place here, because the Slide features many of the same subtle styling elements. Don’t judge this phone by it’s pictures many say photos just don’t do this justice. I mean not every picture is bad but this sleek, sexy phone isn’t always looking it’s best on pictures. We tested the black version, and we bet red and white look even better. As we said before, even though the Slide has distinct ID all its own, it shares some common design features with its older namesake — the mirror-finish body, for instance, and subtle upturns at the top and bottom. At 4.65 inches tall by 2.19 inches wide by 0.65 inch deep and weighing 4.09 ounces, the MyTouch has a sturdy, comfortable feel, and it slips cleanly into a pocket or bag for easy traveling. This screen is plenty bright, and outside of the occasional web browsing situation, we bet you’ll be just fine at 480 x 320. You get access to the handset’s full QWERTY keyboard by pushing the screen to the right. The sliding mechanism isn’t the smoothest we’ve seen, but it seems strong and the screen securely locks into place. The Slide also offers an onscreen keyboard in both portrait and landscape mode and a Swype keyboard, so you have plenty of options when it comes to text input, which is great. Below the screen, there are four shortcut keys; home, menu, back, and the Genius button and an optical track pad that doubles as a select button. The myTouch 3G Slide has a sleek compact body that will attract anyone.

In particular, the keyboard is one of the best four-row designs we’ve used in recent memory with great feel, spacing, and clickiness. They’ve made room for all of the most important keys that you should be able to access without pressing Shift or Alt, notably the comma, period, and “@” symbol, plus you’ve got Home and Search keys and duplicated modifiers on the left and right sides. We got reliable T-Mobile’s 3G coverage throughout Manhattan, and the network’s data speeds were impressive.websites loaded with in seconds quickly and YouTube clips came just as fast as well. The touchscreen is bright and responses instantely, the swiping multitouch pinching-to-zoom work really well. Voice call quality was completely solid and clear. The Genius Button takes the place of the search button commonly found on Android phones, and it uses Dragon Dictation technology to take voice commands to the next level, adding to Google’s already excellent voice recognition for Android phones. Some people may not see Genius as a must have, but it has it’s pros and it’s cons like we all do. Genius’ voice recognition isn’t 100% accurate, but it works about average overall. MyModes is a multi-theme manager that allows you to set up a rotation of themes;wallpaper + visual style + ringtones + widget and app shortcuts, and then cycle between them either manually or on an automated basis. The 5MP camera is a perfectly fine for a cameraphone, and VGA video capture is pretty awesome. Battery life has been awesome, with nary a charge needed before bedtime. But also remember the more apps you are running the faster the battery will die off and you’ll need to whip out that charger.Overall, I was really please with this phone and can’t wait to see the Android updates on this.
