The alleged atmosphere surrounding Sprint’s transfer from Qualcomm’s QChat technology to iDEN for push-to-talk has now subsided to an official declaration. Sprint’s central reasoning behind the move is simple; when EV-DO Rev. A-powered QChat system was introduced last year, a Sprint / Nextel collaboration was a likely possibility. Unfortunately, ever since, the carrier has been squandering money on its Direct Connect network, improving it and exaggerating heavily its prepaid Boost Mobile brand that shares Nextel’s airwaves. And now, there obviously isn’t usefulness in two incompatible PTT company’s presence on any network. Therefore, QChat is heading to the exit. Those personally concerned with the update and already on the Sprint network will continue to be assisted, but no new models will be offered. Look at the cute phone’s above, though. You’ll be delighted for a new investment. Via.
