Laws have been springing into Legislation of Banning the use of Handheld devices such as Cell Phones for talking and texting while driving. All this has been done to improve driver safety and awareness on the roads today. A study that has been in progress shows otherwise: According to the Highway Loss Data Institute, laws banning the use of cell phones for talking and texting while driving do not seem to be lowering the number of crashes that incur. The laws have been effective in getting drivers to use hands-free devices, but studies show that using a hands-free device may not be any safer than speaking on the phone itself - warding that the issue is more about the Distracted Driver than it is the Device. The Transportation Department, not being happy with the study, says that it's irresponsible to say that these laws do not improve upon Highway Safety. [ITBusinessEdge]
