Motorola is making a leap into the future. They have a subsidiary company called Motorola Ventures, which has thrown a load of money at a French company, Sensitive Object. They have created a technology that makes any surface into a multitouch interface. What this means is that you could take a glass table top and using this interface technology have a giant touchscreen. Or in the case of cell phones have a completely button-less face to any handset.  The technology has been successfully tested on materials such as glass, metal, and even plastics. How the technology works is that it uses acoustic touch recognition to make sense of sensor data when a surface is touched.
