Today in cell phone news, Broadcom made an announcement that they will be launching a new HSPA chipset that allows manufacturers to create lower cost Android and WinMobile smartphone devices. These new chipsets will feature a ARM11 processor and will support speeds up to 7.2 Mbps download, and 5.8Mbps for uploads. They will also feature their own graphics and come equipped with a 8 megapixel camera. They have also created a new RF transceiver which is the smallest HSPA transceiver designed. It was created this way for low cost. These are great solutions for the market, and a good direction to head in since we are turning into a smartphone society. [Via
