29 December, 2009, 5:00 pm

The iPhone requires a plethora of data causing a stressful AT&T network for the US, any follower of cell phone news would be knowledgeable of that. A similar occurrence is taking place in London with O2’s network. Customers in possession of the iPhone have experienced network stagnation on behalf of the rise in data trafficking by iPhone owners. O2 CEO, Ronan Dunne, claims that data congestion has increased 18-fold since the start of 2010. In attempts to procure their posture after a service downfall, O2 has decided to add 200 mobile base stations in London to meet the demand of the people. Let’s pray for the patches to hold up.

Nokia Takes Infringement Battle with Apple to the ITC

29 December, 2009, 4:17 pm

It appears that Nokia is second guessing its original decision mentioned earlier in cell phone news to strictly go in on a patent fight with Apple. The company located in Finland has now additionally filed a complaint with the International Trade Commision (ITC), suggesting that “virtually all” of Apple’s merchandise infringe one of seven patents including interfaces, cameras, antennas, and power management. There’s no reason to act surprised here as Nokia is employing orthodox methodology of criticizing one of patent infringement. Apple’s reaction will likely come in the same form as Nokia’s former attack, consulting the ITC of Nokia’s infringements. ITC’s power of banning imports of infringing products gives this case the potential for groundbreaking effects. Stay tuned.

11.3 Million iPhones Expected to Be Dished Out to the Public by the End of Q4

29 December, 2009, 3:36 pm

Statistics in cell phone news aren’t yet indicative of the arrival of an iPhone killer. According to the Wall Street analyst Brian Marshall, 11.3 million units are to be sold worldwide by the finish of the remainder for the current three month period. Originally, though, Marshall predicted for only 10 million iPhones to end up in the hands of the public, so the newer estimation brings a sense of accomplishment to Apple. Overseas influence is to blame for the increased prediction of Apple iPhone sells as the iPhone controls 8.5% of the cell phone market in France. In Japan, the iPhone 3G and 3GS are the two dominant sellers of the country. Also to put into consideration is the lack of exclusivity in Europe, allowing distribution to be maximized in that area. The lock hold in the US could be broken by Verizon in the future, also expanding the growth of the iPhone.

Acer and Asustek Supposedly Working on Custom 3G Phones for China

29 December, 2009, 2:48 pm

If the declarations of sources from Digitimes in cell phone news stand to be reliable, China will be embellished with a number of 3G phones in 2010. Expansion is always a theme throughout the expansive state of China, and nothing other than a continuously growing 3G. Acer and Asustek are allegedly scheduling models for 2010. For Acer, expect TD-SCDMA and WCDMA models with assistance from China Mobile and China Unicom. Asustek will be releasing a China-specific Garmin-Asus billed handset for the same two carriers that Acer is set to work with. The chances of this rumor holding up to its name are unlikely, so you can practically deem this one fact.

LG Planning First US Mobile DTV Devices

29 December, 2009, 2:19 pm

LG announced its first gadgets in cell phone news for the US Mobile DTV standard accepted in October. A member on the list is seemingly an LG Lotus clamshell with an antenna shooting off the side for DTV reasons. The Lotus was introduced in 2008, but deserves a re-release now that the antenna begging for attention increases the handset’s ability. In addition to the Lotus look-alike, the DP570MH mobile DVD player that permits viewers four hours of ATSC-approved Mobile DTV broadcasts before requiring an additional charge. LG encourages you to expect more ATSC Mobile DTV gadgets from Dell, Kenwood, and others. DVD players and antennas, perfect signs of perfection.

Palm Smartphone Discovered in WiFi Certification System, Likely the Pre for Verizon

29 December, 2009, 1:24 pm

It’s been a straightforward, solid rumor in cell phone news that Verizon was going to one day acquire the Palm Pre, and possibly even an enhanced version. But, what’s the desired unknown is when the Pre will be introduced on Verizon. Based on a random Wi-Fi Certificate that came out of the blue, the anticipation has reached an apex. Considering the time between today and CES, there wouldn’t be a better time. To further solidify the level of expectation, Sprint’s Pre’s Wi-Fi Certificate number was P100EWW, and the summer brought Verizon’s system P101 and P121. Nicely dovetailing the summer’s updates, this certificate is labeled with a P101EWW tag. There’s a chance this could be a completely new Palm to be dropped on VZW, and wherever Palm takes us, we’re excited.

DROID Posses 49% of the Applications Bought on Christmas Day

28 December, 2009, 4:43 pm

Even though the Motorola DROID launched a mere 6 weeks before Santa’s journey around the world, it still completely shatter the competition in the Android Market on December 25th and cell phone news. Provided by Flurry, information describing that 49% of all Android application sales were slated for a DROID. As for the lowly competitors, the runner-up handset was T-Mobile’s myTouch 3G, which tallied 18% of the applications sold on the 25th. Coming close behind was the HTC Hero and the G1, gathering 17% and 16% of the applications sold. As a company itself, the Android Market increased sales by 20% from November to December, comparatively sad as the Apple Store increased by 51%. The Android Market has about 16,000 applications as inhabitants and it is expected to grow to 150,000 by next year. Growth will be even more prevalent with an increase of Android devices.

The Alleged Apple Tablet May Obtain Panels from Innolux

28 December, 2009, 4:08 pm

The continual expectation of the rumored Apple Tablet’s announcement in cell phone news has caused electronic enthusiasts to itch for an official declaration of the gadget’s existence. As the Apple Tablet still remains a rumor, more information that could potential describe the real device in the future has surfaced. For this instance, Innolux, a subsidiary of Foxconn, the producers of the iPhone, has been manufacturing touch screen panels for the impending tablet, rumored to be the iSlate. According to Digitimes, G-Tech Optoelectronics will allegedly be in charge of increasing the strength of the glass for the tablet. Taiwan-based Wah Hong Industrial is supposedly going to provide other components to complete the device. Obviously you can expect Foxconn to actuate the tablet’s production. Excited?

Pedal Brain Kit Enhances Bike Rides

28 December, 2009, 3:45 pm

Bicyclists have had a long spectrum of devices committed to enhancing and better measuring their biking experience. Seeing as the iPhone can do it all, especially considering its impact on cell phone news, it took its characteristic of helpfulness and dedicated to the biking community. The people behind the project are still patching up its final components, but decided to term the application the Pedal Brain kit regardless. The application promises to be a Nike+ alternative for cyclists, meaning its comes with an accessory that relies on ANT+ wireless protocol to transmit all the information from your bike and processed by the application. Another interesting feature of the Pedal Brain kit is its coaching component, which will permit you to create your own training plans and sell them through the app. You will be able to determine the price of the plan, but Pedal Brain will receive $4 a month for setting you up. The exact launch date is yet to be declared, but pricing will come in between $130 and $200.

Leaked Sense ROM Tilts Itself 90 Degrees from Original

28 December, 2009, 3:06 pm

Earlier today the T-Mobile USA-branded HD2 ROM decided that hibernation was going to end earlier than expected, showing up in cell phone news leaked on Touch Pro2s. At first sight, the most obvious update is the landscape orientation, allowing for an entourage of enjoyment to come from those suggesting width over vertical expanse. Usefulness is apparent for the Touch Pro2 as its platform would operate with much more ease horizontally. Another beneficiary, you probably could’ve guessed, is the HD2. A matter of time will turn questionable aspects of the Sense ROM to facts. Until then, enjoy your current platform as the day to say goodbye will inevitably come.

LG LS680 with Android Spotted in Sprint’s Systems

28 December, 2009, 1:17 pm

Recently, in cell phone news rumors of a Sprint and LG event at CES were swarming throughout the webs. Just days away, CES will now not hold the surprise it potentially could have as the LG LS680 Android handset was spotted in Sprint’s system. As far as what to expect from the handset, there is only a small portion of information giving directions. The fact that the hadnset is OS, we can assume a large touchscreen will be featured and we can’t rule out the possibility of a QWERTY keyboard, especially considering that LG has a penchant to integrate QWERTY keybaords with its LX series. Not all the surprise is ruined for CES, though, there is a chance we can see a WiMax WinMo phone being announced. Availability of information anywhere will breed notification, so stay tuned.

FCC Devoting More Commitment to Alloting Some of the TV Spectrum to Mobile Broadband

28 December, 2009, 12:37 pm

Critical to cell phone news, the Federal Communications Commission is taking the plans of reallocating wireless airwaves from TV broadcasting to wireless broadband with a more stern vision. By mid-February the FCC is expected to have finished and submitted its plans concerning the new shift of airwaves. Unfortunately, Verizon and AT&T may only get a thin slice of the newly available signals due to FCC’s likelihood of restricting airwaves strictly for unlicensed spectrum for free services. FCC gave an explanation of why the new transition is taking place as a stimulus to increase competition. Of course, the proposal will be met by opposition from broadcasters and any other seeking to keep the wireless spectrum licensed and not free. A bundle of effects will likely result, but we’ll have to watch how FCC plays this out.

FCC Commissioner Declares Verizon’s Response to ETF Lackluster

24 December, 2009, 11:07 am

Mignon Clyburn, a member of the FCC, recently sent out a letter in cell phone news in regards to Verizon’s earlier response to questions concerning their outlandish $350 early termination fee on “advanced devices”. It doesn’t seem that controversy over Verizon’s ETF has seen the last of its days. Clyburn described Verizon’s reply as “unsatisfying and, in some cases, troubling”, mentioning the already high contract prices and how public interest isn’t properly served when the ETF is employed. Also brought to the table was Verizon’s claim to not charge customers who accidentally press the web button on their phone without a suitable plan, declaring,”press reports and consumer complaints strongly suggest otherwise.” Clyburn “look[s] forward to exploring this issue in greater depth with her colleagues in the New Year.” Uh-oh. Good luck Big Red.

The Lack of Exclusivity Leads to Large Decrease in iPhone Prices

24 December, 2009, 10:30 am

The cancellation of iPhone exclusivity in Europe has not only led to an increase in iPhone sales, but also a decrease in prices, an obvious outcome seen in cell phone news when two companies have the ability to fluctuate prices for competition’s sake. The latter result of exclusivity being abrogated is now beginning to take effect. The three companies battling to attract customers most efficiently are Bouygues Telecom, SFR and Orange. Orange decided to cut its iPhone 16GB iPhone 3GS to a mere €59 ($48USD), a large decrease considering its original price of €149 ($213USD), its iPhone 3G 8GB to a small €19 ($27USD), and the iPhone 3GS 32 GB to €169 ($242USD). It’s not just a string-free transaction, though, as an Origami Star contract runs at €40.90 ($48USD) per month. Prices differ slightly from company to company, but informing you of one should be enough information for non-European viewers.

Nexus One’s Specifications Leak, A Possible Invite-Only Release Pending for January 5th

24 December, 2009, 9:34 am

A countless number of cell phone news enthusiasts are attentively anticipating the Nexus One’s release. But, to the consumer’s disappointment, only specified hands will be permitted to touch the Nexus One on its ‘restricted release’. That’s right, the device will initially be released through “invitation” first. There isn’t word on who will actually be invited to purchase the gadget, but only that Google is determining on who the invitations will be bestowed. But, considering Google’s status, only registered developers will have the first stage of Nexus One’s accessibility. Before we unleash the beast’s specifications, remember that T-Mobile will be selling it directly in the future. The list of specs is after the jump.

Radiation Labels May Soon Invade Cell Phone’s Price Tag’s Personal Space in Bay Area

24 December, 2009, 8:51 am

The debate concerning harmful cell phone emissions has persisted in cell phone news for a while now and leaves consumers second guessing their security when enganged in mobile conversation. Taking a deeper look into the subject and striving to protecting, the San Francisco Department of the Environment are advocating to notify all mobile buyers by placing radiation levels next to gadget’s price tags. But, science still hasn’t let down the mobile industry as no definite research points affirmatively in the San Francisco Department of the Envrionment’s direction. In addition, FCC insists that all devices sold are safe and shouldn’t be concerned with in respects to health. The proposal, deserving to be rejected, is endorsed by Mayor Gavin Newsome, likely induldging in irrelevant conversations with his wife on the way home from work.

HTC Incredible Is on its Way to Verizon, Hopefully Living up to its Name

18 December, 2009, 4:38 pm

It has been confirmed by a trusted source of cell phone news that Verizon is going to commit to branding the HTC Incredible, which seems capable of fantastic stunts in return of Verizon’s generosity. Intensifying the excitement of the handset’s eventual release is that its codename was spotted in HTC’s leaked Android 2.1 ROM, solidifying the fact that the handset will sport 2.1. From the looks of it, expect the handset to be an extremely powerful set, competing with some of the other heavy arsenal in Verizon’s line of gadgets. The source providing this information isn’t sure whether Incredible is a go-to-market name or internationally known.

Motorola DROID Blessed with Multitouch Capabilities by Hackers Purloining of Milestone Firmware

18 December, 2009, 3:55 pm

It’s about time that DROID owners benefit off the adroit skills of hackers, as many do in cell phone news, Android style. Do you remember the ability of the Motorola Milestone, the European emulation of Verizon DROID, to multitouch? Well, it’s a wish of many knowledgeable DROID carriers in the States and a shame that it hasn’t made its way across the Atlantic. Luckily, it has. Hackers successfully ported the Milestone’s firmware to its American brother. Only a select few have gotten the opportunity to take advantage of the situation, but AllDroid reports that a baked ROM will be situated for public usage within the next two weeks. Don’t forget to check out the vid after the break.

Sprint Tells Lies of Android 2.0 Heading to the Moment and Hero, Instead Surprises with 2.1

18 December, 2009, 3:23 pm

Sprint’s deciding to crush its promises stated in cell phone news of Android 2.0 being deliver to the Hero and Moment, but don’t grieve just yet. Instead, they’ll be delivering the high-end Android 2.1 platform, brining a bundle of joy and likely an intense Christmas spirit for existing and future owners of the two handsets. It’s a logical move on Sprint’s behalf considering the new Hero builds have Android 2.1 and by the time any releases will be in actuality, 2.0 will be a thing of the past. But, on the down side, the 1H 2010 window hasn’t been brought in whatsoever. Again, we’ll hope for a understated promise and overzealous result.

The BlackBerry 8530 Lands on Sprint

18 December, 2009, 2:36 pm

And the rumors are in cell phone news settled as the BlackBerry Curve 8530 crosses Sprint’s finish lines and joins the other headsets. After all the rebates and contracts all handled, you’ll be look at $50 for the Curve 8530. As a reminder, the Curve features a 2.5-inch display, OS 5.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack and Wifi. This is definitely a solid and logical choice for anyone looking to effectively get the job done. If you’d prefer to have a little flair with your sets, the Pureness is a better prospect. Keep in mind, though, personalization is possible on the BlackBerry Curve 8530 in the form of housing or household arts and crafts. Good luck.

Verzion Possible Getting a Palm Pre Plus and Android-Running Motorola Devour

18 December, 2009, 2:04 pm

Rumors in cell phone news gave us the hunch that Verizon will be dropping the Pre into its endless collection of handsets, and the CDMA Pixi equipped with WiFi is definitely a prospect of addition to Big Red’s line of fire. More definite information will be a theme of CES, so keep your eyes peeled in the beginning of January. A simple Pre added to Verizon wouldn’t serve properly for 2010, and Pre compensates for that anachronism with a little enhancement assumed by the name, “Pre Plus”. It’s only suitable for the earlier data suggesting Verizon’s Pre would be “different” from Sprint’s. Moving to Canada, in nominal terms, the Motorola Calgary will likely be billed the “Devour” on Verizon featuring a 3 mega pixel cam and the Blur-Android combo, Android 2.1 that is. Lastly, there’s hints pointing towards a LG VS750 in an extra-thin form factor running on WinMo 6.5 and holding global roaming capability. A question for thought, “what will the plus in the Pre be?”

Nokia Gives 20 Percent of its Finnish Factory a Break from Work

17 December, 2009, 5:03 pm

Employee layoff has been prevalent in the year of 2009 and in cell phone news due prominently to the economical struggle. Still, as we approach the end of the decade, employees are having to face the harsh reality of occupation hunting. Nokia holds one factory of its nine in Western Europe. We’ll overlook the quality and well-being of the factory for Nokia’s and its customer’s sake. But what the situation boils down to is a furloughing of 20 percent of the factory’s staff for up to 90 days at any one time, as there is no need for Nokia to run the factory full-time. So it seems that Nokia will be circulating the joblessness through employees throughout the financial hardship. I can’t set up a campaign to give Nokia resilience during the struggle, but marketing its product may be a good starting point. Anyway, we don’t hope to see any of the same in the future.

Motorola Backflip To Bring MotoBlur and Android Combination to AT&T

17 December, 2009, 4:32 pm

There aren’t many days left for handset introduction in cell phone news, and this past decade has seen amazing progression, to say the least. Fortunately, we haven’t seen the last for the 2000s and single digits. Motorola strikes again at the end of the year with a new Backflip / Enzo / Motus gadget. Acrobatically inclined, the Backflip flips its form factor to the backside and while in that position, the QWERTY keyboard is given the privilege to show its keys to the world. Even more important, though, is the fact the device boasts an AT&T symbol next to the characters on the keyboard, a rumor that had us expecting, but now we’re accepting. Other leaked images coincide with earlier rumors as well. A touchpad will be on the back of the keyboard to facilitate no-look scrolling, Blur combined with Android 1.5 will be the platform, and the same 528MHz processor on the CLIQ will also be on this gymnast.

Samsung Stunt Freefalls onto MetroPCS Shelves

17 December, 2009, 4:01 pm

MetroPCS would be the last to consider in respects to handset competition, featuring a collection of low- to mid-end gadgets always failing to excite cell phone news and compensating for the inferiority with contract-free plans. Next to attempt to entice the careless mobile users is the Samsung Stunt. Not a bad name choice whatsoever, but will it hold up to its title. Of course it won’t. The candy bar styled set features 160 x 128 display, Bluetooth AWS CDMA, and a basic design with a splash of complexity. Although the device is yet to be spotted on the carrier’s website, it should be released sometime today. Keep in mind, though, that this is definitely a qualified choose by MetroPCS standards, which bear no limits.

Verizon V CAST Media Manager Handles Media

17 December, 2009, 3:43 pm

Verizon consulted Smith Micro, and informed cell phone news, in order to put together a branded version of QuickLink billed the V CAST Media Manager, an application grouping music, videos and pictures between Windows PCS and compatible phones. Conveniently, the tool is compatible to Verizon’s music store and imports music from unidentified music management applications. As for the photos, the V CAST Media Manager has basic editing capabilities and allows users to create slideshows on the go. But, there’s a catch. Only 19 phones can currently support the manager, one of the 19 is a Smartphone, the BlackBerry Storm 9530. We are just as baffled by that move as you are.

Verizon Initiates WebOS Training

16 December, 2009, 5:05 pm

Suggestions about Palm’s existence on Verizon in 2010 have been looming about cell phone news, but no highly indicative information has actually made a mark. Just today, though, a leaked internal training slide has made the future even more predictable. The training slide represents a 20-minutes Palm / webOS experimentation that will continue until January 4th. That date dovetails perfectly with the eve of CES, so hopefully there will be more information to be unveiled on the 5th of January. Expect for the Pixi with WiFi to play a role in Palm’s participation with Verizon.

Apple Predicted to Break the 10 Million Mark for Handsets Sold this Quarter

16 December, 2009, 4:20 pm

Undoubtedly the iPhone has been the hottest handset on the market since its release. Numbers in cell phone news alone can do more than explain the feat Apple has accomplished. Seeing as the iPhone has been out for quite a while, some would predict its hot streak to inevitably hit some cold water. But, with exclusivity being abrogated in Europe and the introduction of the 3GS, it still leaps over the bar it set at 7.4 million last quarter. According to Taiwanese research, the iPhone is expected to have distributed a record-breaking and ground-shattering 10 million iPhones for the current quarter alone. So, if you lack respect for the iPhone bandwagon riders, at least serve Apple its deserved extolment merely for the ability to sell such a large mass of handsets. The DROID has done everything, but stopped the iPhone’s mobile supremacy.

BlackBerry Essex Caught with Sprint’s Name in OS

16 December, 2009, 3:57 pm

The BlackBerry Essex has been roaming about rumorland in cell phone news for quite a while now as an enhanced emulation of the Tour. Although information pertaining to the handset’s characteristics has leaked, the faucet has remained shut on the handset’s carrier until now. Sprint will likely be the carrier honored with the Essex whenever its distribution begins. As mentioned before, the Essex is primarily an updated version of the Tour featuring the basically required WiFi that wasn’t present on the Tour. Also bringing a difference is the replacement of a trackball with a track pad. Validity is lacking from the normal branding suggesting future releases thanks to the Sprint’s name only being spotted on the OS. You can also take the askew trackpad into consideration when estimating reliability. We hope to have definiteness with the next Essex update.

WIND Mobile Adds Itself to Canadian Carrier Roster, Inexpensive Plans Attract

16 December, 2009, 2:46 pm

Although conflict with the government caused a small delay, Canada’s WIND Mobile is an official company in cell phone news and has met its first day of existence. WIND is a company centralized around inexpensive plans in order to contrast what Rogers, Bell, and Telus has to offer in respects to cost. In compensation of the network’s inferior ability to the more popular carriers, WIND features a $15 voice plan that offers twice the minutes of those carriers in the low-cost class, Koodo and Fido and an unlimited data plan for CAD $35. Handsets available sometimes tell the tale of a person’s willingness to commit to a carrier and WIND will be offering the Bold 9700, HTC Maple (Dash 3G), the Samsung Gravity, the E181 USB modem, and the Huawei U519. Service is temporarily limited to Toronto and Calagary, but people are still finding the deal too attractive to resist. All will likely be healed soon.

MetroPCS Caught Misleading Customer’s with “Unlimit Yourself” Bargain, Class-action Lawsuit Filed

15 December, 2009, 4:08 pm

Sometime’s certain offers seem too good to be true in cell phone news. The MetroPCS’s “Unlimit Yourself” addition, which is available for existing MetroPCS contracts, couldn’t globally complete its bargain, missing Israel, the UK and other regions. Consequently, a class-action lawsuit has been thrown at MetroPCS. False advertising and deceptive business practices are the accusations that MetroPCS will be facing in court on behalf of their inability to fully inform customer’s of the plan. In addition, people participating in the “Ultimate Unlimited” plan discovered international calling to be rather inadequate. I advise anyone seeking to make international calling a possibility through MPCS to inspect for your respective country-to-call’s availability.

Android 2.1 Ready for Droid, Expectations Are Met

15 December, 2009, 3:42 pm

It’s no surprise to anyone accustom to cell phone news that the Android 2.1 has now arrived at the doorstep of the DROID. Sometime this Christmas season it was bound to make an appearance. But, as of now, you can give thanks to the hackers that made the update possible as the platform is still not legally attainable. Not only is it not an official release, but the release is a tad incapable of performing as the actual update should. At one point you could follow DIY instructions that were posted temporarily on Sholes.info, but has been superseded by a caveat suggesting to wait for a suitable ROM. Nevertheless, you can still roll the dice and experiment with the update.

Android Market Tallies 20,000 Applications since Birth, 62% Are Giveaways

15 December, 2009, 3:24 pm

Apple’s App Store set the bar high in respects to apps its year of initiation at 50,000 in cell phone news. The Android Market, which also offers a sundry of fun applications, crossed the finish line with 20,000 for its first year. But, more noteworthy for the consumer is the proportion of these countless applications that are offered for free. AndroLib declared that of Android Market’s 20,0039 applications 62.2% are available free, leaving 37.8% to paid apps. After a sharp incline, you’ll find the App Store offering 77% of their selection as paid applications. If you break the facts down for the customers, I’d assume the pie chart may look rather delicious.

Nokia’s Social Networking Application Makes Its Way to Beta, N900 Left on the Bench

14 December, 2009, 4:57 pm

Nokia decided to hop on the bandwagon in creating a social networking application, exciting cell phone news indeed, not only for Facebook but now it also is accompanied by Twitter. Excitement in the hands of Nokia gadget owners, huh. Well, maybe not. If you’re a N900 owner a sense of false excitement was just felt. Yes, that’s right, N900 was cancelled out in this equation and will not be able to run the new application. It will be an exclusive offer for N97, N97 Mini and 5800 owners. Nevertheless, the app can upload videos and pictures, integrate with email, and give VIP access of your homescreen to Facebook and Twitter updates. Congratulations to all those now able to stay a little more connect and better broadcast your live via internet.

Motorola Zeppelin Preparing for China Telecom as XT800, US May Be Another Home of the Device

14 December, 2009, 4:36 pm

Motorola has been a small portion of the onslaught of Android devices that we have to expect for 2010’s cell phone news, at least allegedly. What we can deduce from all the new leaked hardware, though, is that Motorola is focusing its attention on the platform. A representation of that is the Zeppelin, slated for China Telecom as the XT800. Pictorially, the device looks auspicious with a design similar to the Instinct HD. It also features GSM and CDMA radios in order to be applicable with Telecom’s imminent 3G network. What’s most interesting about the gadget is that, on QQ.com, it’s labeled the Titanium, a device recently spotted on FCC with EV-DO Rev.A. So, you can bet your bottom dollar this will be making a US appearance sometime soon. Another Android option for Uncle Sam to get his hands on.

Acer Participates in Coincidental Collaboration to Fill 2010 with a Plethora of Android Sets

14 December, 2009, 4:03 pm

An impending inundation of Android handsets waits in the depths of potential. In addition to HTC’s breadth of sets to come found in recent cell phone news, some Moto gadgets, and Sony Ericsson’s product, Acer will also be participating in 2010’s Androidmania. Acer’s Liquid is just beginning to find its place on retail shelves, but what really deserves attention is Acer’s VP’s declaration that “five or six” additional Android models are being constructed for the new year. The handsets are reported to be low- to high-end gadgets, offering options for all financial demographics. But, this is only a report pertaining to the young 2010. The third and fourth quarter’s plans are not included. Anyone excited about this announcement should be dwelling in European or Asian areas, as there is no indication that Acer will be extending its goodies to the US.

HTC Legend’s Render Doesn’t Cease to Impress, Additional Information Tags Along

14 December, 2009, 3:30 pm

HTC’s 2010 alleged handset agenda, recently finding its way to cell phone news, features a gadget closely resembling the Hero, the HTC Legend. That handset’s validity is now further supported by additional information and a more impressive image. Although it isn’t taking the flagship lime light, which belongs to the Bravo, this set will definitely be one to reckon with. First believed to wield a WVGA display, the Legend will actually succumb to a HVGA. The novelty to note is that there is an appearance of HTC People II and Footprints II, a foreshadow of the improvement Sense will be delivered for this device’s launch. The metal casing looks beautiful in the render and will tactilely satisfy, given that it actually is conceived on its due date in March.

Samsung Galaxy and Nokia N97 Are the First Members of Bell’s HSPA Network

11 December, 2009, 4:50 pm

Rumors in cell phone news of the Samsung and Nokia N97 becoming members of Bell and its few weeks-aged HSPA network are now official. The Galaxy offered on the Bell is an emulation of the one found around the globe, dragging along a 3.2-inch glass AMOLED displayed, 8GB of internal storage expandable to 40GB, 5 megapixel camera, and most like a 1.5 Android software. The unique feature of Galaxy actually lies on its carrier’s network, HSPA 850 / 1900, with which users may be able to access AT&T in the States given an desperate effort. The N97 will have no special specification or differences from the US version and be offered at CAD $199.95 (about $190) on a three-year contract. The Galaxy banks in at CAD $99.95 ($95) under the same circumstances.

Motorola Milestone Vanishes from European Retailer in Less than Three Hours

11 December, 2009, 4:06 pm

Even with the abandonment of iPhone exclusivity in Europe, the Motorola Milestone has become the gadget to have, and also a cell phone news celebrity. Retailer eXpansys, which is large enough to record data worthy of generalization, is billing the DROID emulation “the fastest selling gadget in the website’s 11 year history, even more successful than the iPhone” on behalf of selling out within three hours and dishing out approximately 1,000 preorders. Even though that there isn’t a set number of handset sold during that time frame to compute a sales rate, the fact that the device beat out the iPhone for a particular retailer is special. I guess it’s not too unreasonable to term the DROID, or Milestone, a temporary iPhone killer.

Nokia 5235 Comes With Music Is a Replica of the 5230, Save for a Cheaper Price

11 December, 2009, 3:40 pm

Nokia just recently dished out the 5230, and is wasting no time in letting cell phone news know that it is providing the public with a successor. The Nokia 5235 is a perfect emulation of the 5230, featuring a 3.2-inch touchscreen, 2 megapixel camera, and Symbian S60 5th edition. You’d expect for there to be some difference, simply to support meaning behind a name change, but there isn’t. You’ll need to commit to buying the device to notice the difference. The 5235 has a pre-tax and pre-subsidy price of €145 ($214), €100 cheaper than the 5230 Comes with Music. Nokia’s move is as simple as renaming the 5230 CWM and slashing a bundle of the price tag. The device will be available the first quarter of next year.

Motorola Milestone’s Campaign Much Less Aggressive Than DROID’s

10 December, 2009, 5:16 pm

The Motorola Milestone, the DROID of Europe, will soon be hitting the stores across the sea. If you haven’t forgotten the outlandish and dedicated promotion in cell phone news of the handset in the you United States, which is hard to forget, you are probably expecting the same to accompany the Motorola Milestone’s release. On the contrary, a more tranquil advertisement is what is being to delivered to the Europeans to stir a powerful attraction for the handset. It isn’t straightforward and bombastic, but rather delivers a appeasing, intelligent tone. With all the carriers holding the iPhone in Europe, one could assume sales over there of the Milestone will not be comparable to that of the DROID in the USA. We’ll see. Check the video after the break.

Nokia Drops Flagship Stores in New York and Chicago, Looks to Focus Attention Elsewhere

10 December, 2009, 4:41 pm

In spite of the economy’s struggles, Nokia has seen similar strife, losing customers to a variety of other smartphones and enticing handsets and causing the company to slash costs. In hopes of resilience, Nokia opened 12 stores in important cities around the globe which is a similar method of which Apple took advantage of. But, Ben Wood, director of research at British consultancy CCS, said, “This confirms a turn in Nokia’s retail strategy. It has failed to replicate Apple’s success with this format of store.” The few flagship stores that Nokia runs in the United States are ineffective, considering Nokia’s lack of popularity in the US. John Strand, “Flagship stores are important in fashion industry: Apple is fashion. Nokia is consumer electronics”. There is a flaming rivalry between Nokia and Apple that was initiated in the mid-2007 and has exponentially intensified since. So, on behalf of its unfortunate situation, Nokia will close stores in New York and Chicago in order to reenergize focus elsewhere.

Apple’s Tablet Now Expected to Launch in Late March or April of 2010, Predicted Statistics Hold Strong Impact

10 December, 2009, 3:56 pm

The rumored tablet, at least in cell phone news terms, is expected to throw Apple into digital book market predominately dominated by the Kindle e-reader sometime around late March or April. Apple, although, decided to zip its lips and allow investigators to continue its efforts in deciphering the reality of the tablet. In attempts to foretell the impact that this alleged device will make, oppenheimer analyst, Yair Reiner, reported, given Apple’s new gadget will be sold at the rate of 1 million to 1.5 million units a quarter at $1,000, that the tablet has the potential to increase Apple’s earnings per share 25 cents to 38 cents per quarter. Furthermore, analysts confidently predict the tablet will boast a 10.1-inch multitouch LCD screen, save for size it is similar to the iPhone’s. Apple reportedly consulted book publishers in request to distribute their content electronically, offering them a revenue cut of 70 percent sans an exclusivity requirement.

9 December, 2009, 5:20 pm

Maemo 5 isn’t only featured on the N900 and after the launch of two new Nokia gadgets, the E72 and 5800 Navigation Edition. Cell phone news claims that the QWERTY-equipped E72, priced at $407, and the 5800 Navigation Edition which is ready to guide you home have both started shipping to America, although the E72 is labeled as “in stock on December 10th” on Amazon. Fortunately for anyone dying to handle one of the devices, the 5800 Navigation Edition is now available for order at $299 without strings attached. But, don’t be too anxious, the E72 is already surrounded by rumors suggesting its shipping to have already been initiated.

London School Commits to Experimentally Integrate iPhone into a Few Student’s Academic Supplies

9 December, 2009, 4:18 pm

Cell phone news usually doesn’t feature scholarly content, but here we go. The integration of electronics with education has displayed success in the past with obvious features such as computers, projectors, and so forth, but cell phones are last on the list of useful electronics in respect to academic advancement. But, experiments are giving light to a whole new mobile opportunity. The Gumley House Convention School, a private Christian School for girls aged 11-18, in London decided to give the iPhone a chance to prove more than providing phone calls and endless applications. In its tests, the school plans to distribute 30 iPhones to students in order to test the device’s ability to engage students in a new, improved learning experience. Previous attempts at utilizing the iPhone’s technology for educational purposes were restricted to a collegiate crowd. More after the break.

Nokia Splashes a Golden Coat on the 6700 Classic and Some Dollars on the Price Tag

9 December, 2009, 3:55 pm

The financially troubled Nokia represents the contrary of its monetary condition by splashing a coat of gold on the 6700 classic, a cell phone news disgrace. Yes, this upgrade is completely aesthetic and aimed at the affluent inane enough to drop extra dollars on a useless enhancement, transformation rather. Q1 2010 is the period during which the new 6700 classic Gold Edition is expected to launch. A 370€ ($546 USD) will be the repulsive force resisting consumer interest. Unless you’re looking for a gadget to match your gold dees, this isn’t the option for those seeking value in return for dollars spent. Yes, the juxtaposition of young children predisposed to impoverished circumstances and health and this luxury should forewarn you to direct your spending elsewhere.

Sony Ericsson Satio Shows Signs of Resilience after Software Update Opens Eligibility to Be Sold

9 December, 2009, 3:18 pm

The Sony Ericsson Satio, an unfortunate cell phone news contestant, has recently been benched due to poor performance, but is now reconstructed to a handset eligible to be sold to the mass public. The injuries debilitated the gadget’s “handset speeds and battery usage” and caused “software issues”. Thankfully, for those planning to commit or who have already committed, a software update, backed by a dearth of informative support, fixes these previous, detrimental complications. A stagnant reaction to replace the empty space on the shelves intended for the Satio is expected. Phones 4u in the UK has immediate resilience having already reestablished updated Satio sales. Surprisingly, the company has seen exceptional numbers of sold Satios. Maybe a happy ending will result from a sad beginning.

HTC Bravo, AKA Passion in the USA, Pictured and Scrutinized Precisely

9 December, 2009, 2:52 pm

HTC’s alleged leak of its 2010 plan of handsets in cell phone news was a little too much for one to handle and properly consume. So, to respectively honor each device on the catalog, we’re giving a runway presentation for the HTC’s alleged leak of its 2010 plan of handsets was a little too much for one to handle and properly consume. So, to respectively honor each device on the catalog, we’re giving a runway presentation for the Bravo, soon to be HTC’s “Performance” flagship. The gadget matches Android with Qualcomm’s 1GHz Snapdragon while boasting an imposing 3.7-inch AMOLED display and adding a five megapixel AF cam capable of 720p video capture to its new-decadesque novelty. AT&T Offers iPhone Owners to Report Network Performance without Pay

7 December, 2009, 4:58 pm

How painful it is to see the continuation of Luke Wilson commercials. On the contrary, it’s wonderful to see new applications implemented in order to intensify user’s positive experience with AT&T. Now that’s a way to fight crime, or, the almighty Big Red from conquering the planet. AT&T’s new application is a free program allowing iPhone users to transmit their opinions about AT&T’s network and billed “Mark the Spot”. The optional information to report is dropped calls, failed calls, no coverage, data failure, poor voice quality, and to the extent to which the aforementioned occurrences happen (once, seldom, often, or always). To enhance customer service, an SMS message notifying the user that the message was received will be sent immediately after. AT&T reports that these various reports will allow them to improve their network’s performance and provide “the best network experience possible”. Mark the Spot is applicable to iPhones operating on software of 3.0 and higher.

Motorola DROID Now Featuring 2.0.1, Verizon Makes Update Available

7 December, 2009, 4:01 pm

Less than a week ago, Verizon promised to make available Android 2.0.1 for the DROID, at the time, in “coming weeks”. But, it seems as though that prediction overstated the waiting period as those purchasing the Motorola DROID are reporting 2.0.1 software on the retail handset. In addition, Verizon has confirmed the upgrade’s validity. If you’re still stuck on 2.0, you’ll simply have to consult with Big Red’s instructions and details on the Droid’s support site that should only halt your day’s greatness for a mere ten minutes or so. Quickly, in 2.0.1’s goody bag you’ll find bug-fixes, improved stability and battery life, enhanced camera and call quality, speedier visual voicemail, and a few more improvements. Don’t expect anything in the way of new features to accompany the upgrade. I wonder how many more DROID updates will maintain the device’s stable height of popularity. Months will likely dim the lime lights.

Motorola Opus One Allegedly Labeled First Android iDEN Handset

7 December, 2009, 3:43 pm

Without gleaning enough information to draw any serious assumptions or conclusions, Boy Genius’ obtainment of a photo rumored to support Android and iDEN leaves us hanging on the edge of our seats. Presently codenamed the Opus One, this Motorola Android iDEN is familiar to the myTouch 3G in respects to aesthetic features, save for the gigantic button demanding space in replace of the bottom-mounted ball. An unexpected push forward for iDEN definitely excites all the PTP junkies out there. But, in tradition of rumors, please keep your statements hypothetical. More shots of this anomaly hidden in the source link. Shout out to BGR for the exclusive photos.
