Apple has finally approved the Commodore 64 Emulator for the iPhone. This is big considering that it is the first iPhone app that actually runs code instead of just running arbitrary game data downloaded from the internet.  This emulator is offered to anyone on the app store for $4.99. Before the final version of the emulator came out, the Commodore 64 was prevented from working in the iPhone 2.0 version because the it contained a clause that stopped apps from having their own executable runtimes. However since the new update, iPhone 3.0, has come out it not only allows the Commodore 64 to work on the iPhone but it also lets the emulator take advantage of a new feature, in-apps-purchase, which allows the user to buy additional games rather then just download more internet data. Also note worthy is that the newly licensed version of the emulator no longer exposes a BASIC interpreter, which Manomio has noted on the app that should be resolved in a future update.
