In cell phone news, chip maker AMD has waited, and endured months of being in the red, and finally after a long wait the company posted a net income of $1.18 billion dollars for the fourth quarter of 2009. AMD reports that the announcement is due to a large jump in sales over the holiday season, fueled by the demand for new PC's and netbooks. However more interesting is a lawsuit settlement between the company and rival chip maker Inter. Intel was governed to pay $1.25 billion dollars to the competition, which makes that net income number of $1.18 billion look a little fishy. By the looks of it, and the stock action that AMD is showing, everyone seems to see that AMD actually had a loss of $70 million dollars. We will have to wait and see whats in store for the chip maker, and hope for a come back! [Via Bloomberg]
