HTC S743 AKA T-Mobile G2?
By Travis Lelle

In an industry like the everchanging cell phone and smart-phone, rumors are abound. It's been floating around that at this year's CES T-Mobile will unveil the G2, child of the Google Android-based G1. Speculation suggests the HTC Touch HD, already available in overseas markets, will be polished and rebranded for use in the United States as the next Android phone. Thus far the only new HTC phone announced is the Windows Mobile phone HTC S743. Taking design notes from last year's HTC Touch Diamond, the HTC S743 is not a touch-screen device. Ultraslim at 4.6' x 1.7' x 0.6' with a mere 4.9 oz weight, the HTC S743 features a 12-key number pad, full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a whopping 2.4' QVGA screen, and a slew of other features. The largest drawback of the HTC S743 is the mondo price. Instead of with contract, this device will be sold unlocked. This will give you the freedom to use any U.S. GSM network you'd like, rather than being tied specifically to say AT&T or T-Mobile. Additionally, retailers will determine the price of the device, instead of a set price sometimes cheaper with contract through service providers. Estimated retail value is $600-$700.
