Today in cell phone news, a research firm known as The Coda Research Consultancy has recently released a statement concerning the handset market in the United States. They said that handsets that run WiFi radios will quadruple between the years of 2009 and 2015. With a decent growth rate of 25 percent , they estimate there will be around 149 million WiFi phones being operated by 2015. More than half of the 149 million handsets, or around 65 percent of the devices will be considered smartphones. It is always interesting to see what these research firms come up with, it would be nice to see how and why they are coming up with the numbers. For now we can just sit back and watch the smartphone market blow up before our eyes! [Via Coda]
