A new brand loyalty survey conducted semi-annually via Crowd Science's research platform for online audience measurement has some interesting new statistics. The survey revealed that Android users are equally loyal to their brand as iPhone users, with both sets coming in at around 90% of each saying they will purchase from the same company for their next smartphone. BlackBerry seems to be faltering as nearly 40% of BlackBerry users prefer Apple's iPhone and plan on switching with their next purchase. One third of that 40% said they would also switch to an Android phone, suggesting around 13.6% of BlackBerry users are open to switching to Android during their next trip to the mobile market. Asked 'specifically' if they would swap their current phone for Google's new Android-based Nexus one, 32% of Blackberry users said 'yes,' while iPhone users came in at a disappointing 9% willing to switch. 60% of non-Apple/Blackberry smartphone users said they would swap for a Nexus One. Some of the other survey results revealed that Android users are typically younger than their iPhone/Blackberry counterparts as well as cheaper when it comes to applications. iPhone users were the most likely to pay for applications, while Android users were the most likely to download free applications, and BlackBerry users seemed to have little activity in either department. The only brand out of each that is exclusive to business is BlackBerry, with 7% of it's users saying their phone is strictly for business, 1% of iPhone users said the same and with Android users it was nearly non-existent. The results were derived from 1,140 participants over the course of 4 weeks. Perhaps Android users will be shaving the tiny robot into the back of their heads sooner than originally thought.
