It looks like Apple will no longer pay the whopping $625.5 Million to Mirror Worlds for the long-running Cover Flow patent case. Finally the court has made its final decision citing that Apple didn’t infringe Mirror Worlds’ patents when the Cupertino company created Cover Flow, Time Machine and Spotlight. You can probably still remember that Mirror Worlds file the first bullet at Apple last 2008, arguing that Apple infringe four of the company’s patents. In spite of losing in the first round of the case last year that resulting in huge amounts of payments for damages, Apple appealed once again to the court, this time convincing the judge that they are completely clean and not guilty of the accusation. So finally Apple has won the case! The final ruling stated, 'No matter how attractive a party paints the facade of its case, it is worthless without the requisite foundational support. In this case, Mirror Worlds may have painted an appealing picture for the jury, but it failed to lay a solid foundation sufficient to support important elements it was required to establish under the law. Accordingly, the Court rejects Mirror Worlds’ case as to infringement and damages, while affirming it as to validity and inequitable conduct.' Source
