Apple Becomes the Third largest Mobile Phone Maker in the World
By Jerry Carrion

I know that it may sound shocking for you but Apple is not the first largest mobile phone maker in the world. In fact, until now it was on the fifth place but thanks to pretty successful launch of the iPhone 4S has managed to become the third biggest manufacturer in the world having Nokia and Samsung ahead but leaving LG Electronics behind. Here’s what officials say about this phenomenon: Apple jumped into the third spot globally from the fifth spot last quarter thanks to a record-breaking quarter of shipments. That represents the Cupertino-based company’s highest-ever ranking on IDC’s Top 5 global mobile phone leaderboard. [...] Device sales in the U.S. and Japan were particularly strong given extra sales days in the quarter and carrier distribution. Frankly speaking, Apple is not that far from the leading Nokia. During the forth quarter Nokia sold about 113.5 mln handsets and Apple’s result is about 100 mln. So, let’s see who is going to win in this battle.
