As a rule, smart-phone’s and tablet’s front and rear panels are made of plastic or metal. Those are the best options for mobile products to become comfortable enough to be carried in pockets and protected enough to avoid turning into a useless brick after falling. But did you know that there is a bamboo phone prototype and maybe it will appear on the store shelves sometime during this year? I bet you didn’t but 23-year-old Middlesex University student Kieron-Scott Woodhouse happens to have one holding in his arms. It is running Android operating system and sports stylish wooden rear panel made of four year-old organic bamboo. Without any doubt, the idea itself is really great and what is more exciting – wooden smart-phones will become available on the store shelves in the closest future. Here’s what Kieron-Scott says about its creation: "The whole experience so far has been incredible and completely unexpected. Completing my final year and working has been challenging, but my course and the project complement each other well and it’s a great start of my career. I can’t wait to see my mobile phone in shops this year." So far I know one big plus of a wooden panel – you won’t get any problems with your GPS or Wi-Fi signal.
